Photos for a reduced-calorie diet.

Ah January: the month of big goals. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that most of us resolve (even secretly, even if we defiantly declare we gave up resolutions last year as a resolution) to lose weight, or get in shape, or be more healthy. No problem, The Ferrous Archive is here to help you meet your goals!

The following slides came embedded in some very innocent images of holidays and family, which made them weirder. So if you need a little something to bring to mind to help quell your appetite (that has no doubt grown gargantuan), conjure up these images in your mind's eye. It's not really that these disorders of the skin are particularly extreme, we can certainly find much worse examples elsewhere within a few keystrokes - but there's something unnerving about the way these photos have been taken. Enjoy, in that voyeuristic way you always do...

Tortured lady-arms. She dressed pretty just for this occasion.
This man's skin looks fine to me, but what lies beneath the mask?
Surely your heart goes out to this guy. The shine makes my skin crawl, and the haircut is cruel.
All red border Kodachrome, 1954.
